Veterans’ Disability & Military Hearing Evaluations

Plantation, Florida | On-site | Independent Contractor

Full-time, 5 days per week

We are seeking a licensed audiologist to join our Plantation, Florida practice as a full-time independent contractor, five days per week. The role involves conducting comprehensive audiological evaluations for Veterans’ Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations, as well as hearing evaluations for military applicants. This position is a non-treatment role focused exclusively on evaluation, testing, and documentation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to prepare clear, concise, and timely reports in a fast-paced environment. Effective time management, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing a respectful, compassionate examination experience are essential.

Responsibilities

• Review relevant medical records and obtain comprehensive medical, hearing, and noise-exposure histories.
• Perform examinations and diagnostic procedures, including:
• Basic otoscopy.
• Tympanometry.
• Acoustic reflex testing.
• Speech audiometry using recorded materials.
• Pure-tone audiometry, including air and bone conduction testing.
• Tinnitus evaluation.
• Stenger testing, as indicated.
• Cerumen removal, as needed to facilitate examination.
• Interpret examination findings and provide clinically supported medical opinions and rationale when requested.
• Complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and associated reports accurately and within required deadlines.
• Explain examination procedures clearly and treat every individual with kindness, patience, and respect.
• Manage appointments, testing, and documentation efficiently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Coordinate effectively with office staff to support timely patient flow and an organized clinical workflow.

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Florida audiology license.
• Doctorate or master’s degree in audiology from an accredited program.
• Strong clinical assessment, written communication, and documentation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach to serving Veterans and military applicants.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced practice.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and online reporting systems.
• Ability to meet applicable examiner credentialing and training requirements.
• Current BLS certification or willingness to obtain it.

Preferred Experience

Priority consideration will be given to audiologists who are currently credentialed to conduct C&P examinations. Experience with other disability evaluations, disability claims documentation, or DBQ completion is also highly valued. Qualified audiologists without prior C&P experience are welcome to apply. Training is available for candidates interested in developing expertise in Veterans’ disability evaluations.
